Little Felt Bag Project

Hello again! I'm excited to share this cute little project from today. I made a little felt bag, I changed some of the design from the inspiration, which came from the same book as my last post, and I love how it turned out!

I used two pieces of 12" x 8" felt, one white and one pink and some dark pink embroidery thread. I used a wide eye needle because the smaller sewing needles don't fit the thread well. To start off, I cut the felt into the correct sizes I used white felt for the main bag, two strips 12" by 1" for the handles and 6" by 5 1/2" for the bag itself. I used the pink felt to make a heart decoration, I just cut out a little paper heart to fit a 2" square piece of felt.

I started by sewing the heart onto the part of the bag that would be the front using a running stitch. Once the heart was on I sewed on the handles with a big X. Once the handles were attached onto the bag pieces I used a whipstitch to sew the front and back pieces of the bag together.

And that was it! I had such a fun time working on this little bag and I want to make a bunch more! This would be a great little reusable gift bag or I might use it as a small purse. I love it! Leave a comment below and tell me what your favorite felt projects are!

Adios! xo Scarlet

Pom Pom Garland Project

Hello again today I'm going to share this project making pom pom garlands with my little sister. I got my inspiration from a sewing book called Sew With Me: 60 Fun & Easy Projects by Brandy Nelson that my mom checked out from the local library. Side note, I love getting art books from the library. The project said I needed pom poms and embroidery thread and that's it!

It was a challenge to find the pom poms though, we had to look at so many websites in our search to find a craft store that had them in stock, but it seems there is a shortage of pom poms around here. We ended up buying them on Amazon. Here are the ones I got, they were $10 for a huge pack and perfect for my budget.

I had to wait for a couple days for them to be delivered, but once they did I got started. First we threaded the needle, I had to use a somewhat large eye needle to work for the thick embroidery thread and knotted the opposite end so the pom poms wouldn't fall off as we went. Then, one at a time, we strung on the pom poms. I made sure to space them about 1 1/2" apart so that they wouldn't get super bunched up.

After the thread was full,  I tied off the second end with another knot. I had extra thread, enough for one more garland strand, so then I started that one and showed my little sister how to thread the needle through and space the pompoms. I let her finish the second one and she did a great job.

We're going to hang them over my bed, but these would also make a great party decoration or to add a little fun to any room of your house, especially craft rooms or play rooms. You could even use a specific color scheme to make holiday garlands.

And that's it! Adios, xo Scarlet

P.S. leave me a comment and let me know what sort of projects you suggest i make next!

Tie Dye Bracelets

So this week I made tie-die bracelets for my sister, my friends, and myself. It is close to Valentine's day, so I am making these bracelets as Valentine gifts for them.

I created them in pairs, one each for my new friend, my best friend, and my little sister, plus one of each  for myself to match them. This project was a bit challenging in a few ways but I love how they turned out. The cap on the sprayer fell off at least 3 times while I was dyeing the bracelets.

I did slightly different colors for each pair. I had to let the dye sit overnight wet in baggies, and it took me a few days after they finished drying to get a chance to finish them. The did dry pretty quickly though because we put them in the dryer in a little washing bag to keep them from getting sucked into the dryer vent.

Then, after all that, I even had to take a trip to Michaels to get more beads because I didn't have enough 'F' or 'S' beads so if you want to try this craft make sure you have enough beads or spend a few dollars to get a pack of extras.

I finished them up right away when I got back from the store and I really love how they turned out. I gave my sister hers right away and will give the others to my best friends at school on Monday (Valentine's Day) but for now, my brother agreed to model one of them for the picture.

I hope you love it! adios see you later.

Little Pink Pillow - Intro to Sewing Class Success

Hey it's me again. Today I went to a sewing class and made a pillow cover! It took a little more than 2 hours but it was totally worth it. I made a square pillow that is pink and small but soooo cute! I love the fabric I used. I learned a lot of new things about using sewing machines and cutting fabric.

Besides me and the instructor, there was only one person there. We started by setting up the sewing machines so we could start measuring and cutting the fabric so that we could start sewing. It took a long time to finish all the measuring and cutting, so I could start the sewing.

Finally I started pinning and sewing, and after about 20 minutes of sewing I finished the pillowcase.  Then I just put the pillow form inside the pillow case and it was finished! My instructor took a picture of my finished project and I had a lot of fun and enjoyed it very much.

We forgot to get the instructor's contact information for the photo she took, so my mom took this one at home. I love my new pillow!

What would you like to see me do next? Comment below. Adios.

Introduction

Hi, my name is Scarlet. In this blog I would like to talk about crafts I am doing, and plans for crafts I plan to do in the future.

Some crafts I have done before, include painting and sewing. I also draw a lot of pictures. My favorite crafts are drawings and sewing projects. Coming up, I'm taking a sewing class to get more experience and training in machine sewing. I also sketch new ideas every day, so I'll share some of my favorites each week.

Look for some cool tie-dye art that I'm working on this weekend in an upcoming post as well! Hope to see you there!
