Hello again today I'm going to share this project making pom pom garlands with my little sister. I got my inspiration from a sewing book called Sew With Me: 60 Fun & Easy Projects by Brandy Nelson that my mom checked out from the local library. Side note, I love getting art books from the library. The project said I needed pom poms and embroidery thread and that's it!
It was a challenge to find the pom poms though, we had to look at so many websites in our search to find a craft store that had them in stock, but it seems there is a shortage of pom poms around here. We ended up buying them on Amazon. Here are the ones I got, they were $10 for a huge pack and perfect for my budget.
I had to wait for a couple days for them to be delivered, but once they did I got started. First we threaded the needle, I had to use a somewhat large eye needle to work for the thick embroidery thread and knotted the opposite end so the pom poms wouldn't fall off as we went. Then, one at a time, we strung on the pom poms. I made sure to space them about 1 1/2" apart so that they wouldn't get super bunched up.
After the thread was full, I tied off the second end with another knot. I had extra thread, enough for one more garland strand, so then I started that one and showed my little sister how to thread the needle through and space the pompoms. I let her finish the second one and she did a great job.
We're going to hang them over my bed, but these would also make a great party decoration or to add a little fun to any room of your house, especially craft rooms or play rooms. You could even use a specific color scheme to make holiday garlands.
And that's it! Adios, xo Scarlet
P.S. leave me a comment and let me know what sort of projects you suggest i make next!
I can't wait to see what you make next, your garlands are so colorful!
